Research Specialist in Cancer Biology, Perelman SOM at U Penn

The Yang Lab is looking for a full-time research specialist to join our research group at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. This is a great opportunity for medical and/or graduate school applicants to gain basic science research experience while contributing to advancing human health.

The duties of the research specialist include, but are not limited to, conducting research projects on cancer and neurodegeneration, aiding in the general management of the lab, maintaining the animal colony and training interested researchers in animal-related research. This position also allows exposure to a variety of research and publication opportunities with many past researchers having been subsequently published. The laboratory is in a large research university that is consistently ranked top-3 in the nation. This offers great collaborative and learning opportunities for all research specialists.

The ideal candidate has a strong scientific knowledge base and is an inquisitive learner with great organizational skills. The position requires the ability to apply foundational science knowledge to real-world research problems. This would be best accomplished by someone interested in improving human health who is able to pivot quickly to new projects as needed.

A bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry, molecular biology, or related field is required along with a minimum 2-year commitment. Preference will be given to applicants with previous research experience although a candidate highly motivated to learn will also be greatly considered. Start date is June 2022.
