The Montefiore Einstein Bioethics Fellowship is a competitive one-year clinical ethics fellowship with opportunities for mentored scholarship and teaching. The Fellowship aims to prepare its graduates for careers in bioethics consultation and bioethics education.
Fellows will engage in high-level study of bioethics with both guided and self-driven academic curriculum. Fellows will spend the bulk of their year learning to perform ethics consultation in real-time with our dynamic interdisciplinary faculty in the setting of our high-volume service. By the completion of the fellowship, fellows will be equipped to conduct ethics consultation independently and will have sufficient hours and training to qualify for the Health Care Ethics Consultation (HEC-C) certification exam. Fellows will participate in bioethics case conferences, will sit on the institution’s bioethics committee, will complete intensive bioethics mediation training, and will deliver presentations to the clinical ethics community. Dependent on qualifications, fellows will also have opportunities to teach in medical student curriculum, resident case conferences, clinical staff education sessions, and within our bioethics and medical humanities certificate and master's degree program. Funding for professional development and conference attendance is available.
Applicants will have a terminal degree in a related field, including medicine, nursing, social work, psychology, philosophy, religious studies, or law. Preference will be given to applicants with clinical experience. Applicants should have strong interpersonal skills, excellent written and oral communication skills, and the ability to work and learn independently and collaboratively.
This is a full-time clinical ethics fellowship with competitive salary and commensurate benefits. Fellows must be physically on site at our hospital(s) for the majority of weekday work hours. Applicants should submit their CV and a letter of interest highlighting relevant academic, professional, and clinical experience to [email protected] with “Montefiore Einstein Bioethics Fellowship” in the subject line.
Deadline to submit is 12/2/24, but applicants are encouraged to apply early as we will be interviewing prospective candidates on a rolling basis.
