Busy surgical subspecialty practice is seeking an enthusiastic, highly motivated, medical/surgical assistant. Preferences for candidates in Gap year (no classes), pre-Med and pre-PA students welcome. Position is full-time.

Position Accountabilities and Performance Objectives:

• Prepare patients for examination. Set up rooms for appropriate procedures
• Verify patient information by interviewing patients, recording medical history, and confirming purpose of visit
• Assist provider with examinations, procedures, and surgeries
• Document all patient notes in an electronic medical record, ModMed
• Secure patient information and maintain patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records, keeping patient information confidential
• Respond to patient telephone inquiries
• Maintain safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations
• Keep exam rooms fully stocked
• Take telephone messages and provide feedback and answers to patient/physician/pharmacy calls
• Clean and sterilize instruments
• Keep equipment maintained by following operating and cleaning instructions; performing preventive maintenance; alerting coordinator for repairs
• Give instructions or relay messages to patients as instructed by physician
• Maintain professional image through proper attire and grooming
• Perform other duties as needed

We are especially interested in recent graduate/gap year/deferred acceptance premedical students looking to gain practical, paid experience in a patient care setting prior to applying to medical/physician assistant school.

As a Gap Year Medical Assistant, you will have the opportunity to:

** Opportunity for pre-med students taking a gap year **We have had many pre-med students who have gone on to secure admission to medical school after spending anywhere from 12-18 months working in our busy office as medical assistants. You will be paid while earning valuable experience working hands-on with patients, families, physicians, and staff. Guidance with MCAT prep and assistance with personal statements, plus secondary essays, is also provided.
