Health Educator, American University Health Promotion & Advocacy Center (Washington, DC)

The Health Promotion & Advocacy Center (HPAC) at American University is looking to fill a position for a Health Educator. 

Under the direction and supervision of the Director of the Health Promotion & Advocacy Center, the Health Educator will work to mobilize, create, and sustain campus-wide health promotion initiatives to create an environment that promotes student success and personal development. Strong attention will be paid to strategies specifically addressing the use and abuse of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs (ATOD), sexual assault awareness and prevention, stress reduction and mental health promotion, and sexual and reproductive health. The Health Educator will frequently collaborate with campus partners such as the Counseling Center, the Student Health Center, Recreation & Fitness, Center for Diversity & Inclusion, Center for Student Involvement, and other key departments. The Health Educator will use assessment tools, social marketing, and benchmarking of best practices in the field of health promotion, prevention, and harm reduction to meet students’ health and wellness needs. The incumbent will supervise undergraduate student interns.
