We're looking for a clinical research assistant to work at the Zickler Family Prenatal Pediatrics Institute at Children’s National Hospital in Washington, DC, where you'll be part of an innovative team conducting research in neonatal neurocardiac critical care!
What You’ll Do:
- Work alongside Dr. Sarah Schlatterer, MD, PhD, a leading expert in neurocardiac care, prenatal and neonatal neurology. You’ll assist with research on infants with congenital heart disease in the cardiac ICU and support their families.
- Take charge of day-to-day research study activities exploring the impact of parent-led neonatal massage on mother-infant bonding and heart rate variability. You'll be the main point of contact for families, running study sessions, and collecting data using advanced EKG technology.
- Get into the nitty-gritty of research management from determining patient eligibility and enrolling them, to writing study documents, maintaining databases, and navigating IRB processes. You'll learn what it takes to keep a study running smoothly.
- Master EMR navigation – you'll get advanced skills in electronic medical record systems while helping track and categorize important neuro data (EEGs, radiology findings, etc.) for various research projects.
- Analyze critical data about brain injury risks and neurodevelopmental outcomes in babies with congenital heart disease.
- Develop professionally with chances to attend research conferences, present posters, and contribute to manuscript writing.
- Gain real-world experience shadowing multidisciplinary neurocardiac rounds, and work closely with a diverse group of professionals in psychology, therapy, nursing, and more!
