Summary
The Brain Inflammation Collaborative (BIC) is on a mission to ensure that brain inflammation impacting mental health is properly diagnosed and treated. With a strong advisory board and an impressive mix of researchers and collaborators, including Stanford University, we plan to revolutionize research in the field, largely through our longitudinal data collection platform, Unhide. BIC is excited to be hiring a Clinical Research Associate, who will work as part of a fully remote team approximately 15-20 hours per week. Work will focus around implementation of an app that helps users better manage their health and allows researchers to connect with patients to conduct remote research studies to better understand neuroinflammatory conditions and improve health outcomes.
We are looking for a meticulous, organized, and detail-oriented Clinical Research Associate who is passionate about helping patients to improve their lives and health to join our team.
Job Overview
As a Clinical Research Associate, the successful candidate will support strategies and initiatives related to increasing patient enrollment and diversity in clinical research supported by the Brain Inflammation Collaborative. They will support development of IRB protocols, work closely with researchers to improve and implement scientific studies, and with the BIC team to improve the recruitment and retention of diverse and difficult-to-reach patient populations, including children with chronic illnesses. Responsibilities will include project coordination amongst multiple research initiatives, preparation of patient-facing study recruitment materials, attending team meetings, and preparing materials related to IRB submissions. A strong understanding of neuroinflammatory illnesses such as Long COVID, PANS/PANDAS, myalgic encephalomyelitis, autoimmune disease, and mental health conditions is a plus.
Key Responsibilities
- Aid in reviewing and preparing materials for IRB submissions
- Gather user feedback and provide input on research studies, and website and app design & content
- Help design patient-facing and physician-facing data analysis reports and associated simple explanations, under guidance of BIC and external researchers
- Preparation of material/presentations for website, press, and scientific publication
- Development of content that will increase participation and engagement of patients and healthy controls i.e. potential video content, social media posts, together with the BIC social media team
- Literature research
- Support of collaborations with outside researchers
- Administrative tasks such as note-taking during meetings, creating and updating documents and project management plans, proofreading, meeting organization, etc.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a biomedical or health-related field
- Excellent organizational and communication skills are a must
- Self-motivated and able to meet deadlines in a remote environment
- Familiarity with digital tools that facilitate teamwork in a digital remote work environment, including Zoom, Google Workspace, Slack/ClickUp, etc.
- Interest in learning more about public health, patient advocacy, health regulatory procedures, pediatric research, digital health tools, and neuroinflammation and chronic illnesses
- Experience with programming, statistical analysis, research, working with children and families, and/or social media is a plus
