We are seeking a motivated recent graduate to work as a paid full-time Research Assistant (RA) in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Columbia University Medical Center. This is an excellent opportunity for any student who is interested in gaining clinical experience and becoming involved in clinical research before attending medical school.
The RA’s primary responsibility is to enroll patients in the department’s clinical studies, as well as to see patients to collect data in the form of physical examinations, interviews, and questionnaires. Depending on individual interest, the RA will have opportunities to design and conduct new studies under the mentorship and guidance of the department’s physicians. The RA will assist with abstract and manuscript preparation, as well as conference presentations, IRBs, and grant submissions. Furthermore, the RA is tasked with documenting surgeries and dissections done by the principal investigator.
A two-year commitment is required for this position. The position start date is flexible, but ideally June/July 2021. Previous research and clinical experience is preferred, but not necessary.
