Gabriela Jakubowska is the Assistant Director of Health Professions Advising. She works with all undergraduate students helping to guide them on their prehealth journey. Her goal is to support each individual’s unique path to their chosen profession using developmental and holistic approach.
Gabriela was born and raised in Poland, and came to the U.S. when she was in high school. After completing high school in Brooklyn, NY, she earned a BS in Biological Sciences and a BA in Anthropology from Binghamton University (formerly SUNY – Binghamton), and MA and a PhD in Anthropology from The Ohio State University. As a first-gen, non-native speaker of English, she feels uniquely equipped to support students coming from similar backgrounds. While in graduate school, Gabriela realized teaching and advising undergraduate students was a highlight of her days, and decided to work in academic advising. She has worked in academic and pre-health advising for over a decade, first at Ohio State, then at Syracuse University, and most recently at The University of Scranton.
In her free time, Gabriela loves to read non-fiction, travel, and try new foods. She loves all animals, but especially cats!
