Students in our new SummeR reseArch DIversity ProgrAm iN Cardiovascular Disease & HEmatology (RADIANCE) track learn about the broad scope of heart and blood disorders and their interdisciplinary and multidimensional impact.

What to expect

  • RADIANCE will focus on enhancing participants’ skills so that they understand the challenges and opportunities needed to become successful researchers in cardiovascular disease and hematologic disorders
  • Participants are expected to pursue their research training full time—defined as 40 hours per week—and attend all program events
  • At the end of the eight-week program, participants will give capstone presentations
  • Participants will engage in group discussions, seminars and lectures on research ethics, scientific writing, clinical trials, and more

Program benefits

  • Participants receive a stipend
  • If needed, participants receive support for travel to and from St. Louis and lodging while enrolled
  • Non-WashU students receive a free Metrolink transit pass

Eligibility

Participants must meet one or more of the following categories:

  • Individuals from racial and ethnic groups who are underrepresented in health-related sciences on a national basis*
  • Individuals with disabilities
  • Individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds
And
  • Individuals must be an undergraduate or health professional student actively enrolled in an accredited university or accredited health professional school**
  • Individuals must have successfully completed at least one undergraduate year at an accredited university (including baccalaureate schools of nursing) or have successfully completed at least one quarter or semester at an accredited health professional school**
