Volunteer: Study the Current Vaccine Hesitancy with Summit Medical Group

Jan. 15, 2021

To whom it may concern:

I wanted to introduce myself, my name is Hari Nadiminti, MD. I am one of the physicians at the Summit Medical Group and on the board of the SMG Foundation.  Our goal at the foundation is to promote health and wellness in our underserved local communities in NJ.  We are seeking a few motivated students to help with a specific COVID virtual related project during winter break.

The Foundation has become interested in working on the vaccine hesitancy problem in NJ particularly in the communities that the foundation serves.   As you might be aware, there is a level of hesitancy to get the vaccine in the general population.  The hesitation is even greater in the SMGF community that we serve including patients of color for many reasons including a mistrust and legacy of racial bias and abuse.

Our plan is to study the current vaccine hesitancy problem in our population using a company that can design the survey that we can help administer.  After administering the survey our plan is to create an educational intervention followed by  a repeat survey in the spring when the vaccine likely becomes available to this population.  Our work over the last seven years makes us a trusted partner that can make an impact in this community.

We are seeking a few students that would be willing to volunteer to work on this project with us.

Email Hari Nadiminti, MD, Chairman of Dermatology for more details.
