original email from PDA Club
Dear students,
We hope this email finds you well! We are members of the Princeton Disability Awareness Club (PDA), founded in 2007 by a group of students devoted to disability awareness, education, and inclusion. Since then, PDA has been hosting major events on Princeton’s campus to promote these goals while bringing together the Princeton student body and the larger community.
This semester, we are planning on hosting a spring carnival where parents and their children with disabilities are invited to spend a day doing fun activities on campus. The success of this event depends on the Princeton students who volunteer part of their day to spend time with the guests. As a volunteer, you will be paired one-on-one with a participant as their buddy.
The carnival will take place on April 14th from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Carl A. Fields Center, but we are requesting your time between 12:00 PM to 4:30 PM.
Since the carnival is for children with disabilities, we wish to help you honor and understand as much as possible how to give the best experience possible. Therefore, it is mandatory to attend a training session in order to become an official volunteer. We will send out additional information about training times in the next few weeks as we get closer to the official date. There will be multiple times available, but you only need to attend one.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Rachel Tam ([email protected]) and/or Ingrid Nilsson ([email protected]).
Best,
Princeton Disability Awareness Club
