Do Princeton students do better on the MCAT in certain months? I’m studying for an April exam while taking classes and it has been hard to find enough time.
Looking at our data from the past three years, we have significantly fewer examinees who take the exam during the semester than we do who take it in January, August, or September. Our average examinee score is highest in January (515.5) and lowest in May (511.4). January has been our most popular month (28% of examinees) and August testers achieve the largest ratio of very high scores (28% achieved a 520+). Trying to manage MCAT during the semester is definitely challenging. If you’re planning to apply this year and need to rethink your MCAT strategy, please come meet with us to talk it through!
That being said, we have seen examinees reach high scores across all of the exam months, plus you certainly don’t have to have a 520+ MCAT to get into medical school—the exam is just one of many data points. Among our committee letter applicants this year, 30% of the accepted applicants took an MCAT in April, May, or June 2023. Our accepted applicants’ scores range from 507 to 526, and there’s still plenty of time for waitlisted applicants to gain an admission offer.
