Question of the Week: Studying for an August MCAT

April 11, 2025

I’m scheduled to take the MCAT in August, but I haven’t started studying yet. Will I have enough time? Should I be starting now?

One of the hardest things about taking the MCAT is keeping yourself on track to study, so you might have enough time, but you have to intentionally use that time to study and to do it strategically. This is a good time to do some pre-work: get an overview of what’s on the test, research prep materials, get advice from others who have taken the test, and create your schedule. Our Standardized Tests page on our HPA website is a good place to start. You’ll find our MCAT overview; peer recommendations for study materials; info session recordings; discounts from test prep companies, and more!
