The Princeton Black Premedical Society (BPMS) visits Perelman SOM!

Jan. 8, 2024

On November 17, 2023, 22 members of Princeton’s Black Premedical Society (BPMS) traveled to the University of Pennsylvania’s Perelman School of Medicine. The Princeton BPMS was founded in 2018 to serve as a community and resource to address the unique challenges faced by Black pre-health students. This trip, co-sponsored by six academic departments, was the first of its kind in the club’s history.

Students participated in a Q&A with a head Princeton University Health Services (UHS) physician and Princeton alumni studying at Penn, received an insider tour of the world-class medical school and laboratory spaces, and connected with fellow POC pre-health students over lunch with UPenn’s Minority Association of Premed Students (MAPS) and Perelman’s Student National Medical Association (SNMA). The Perelman Trip was hopefully the first of many in an effort to uplift and improve the experience of Black pre-health students at Princeton.
