What Do We Know About Adolescent Suicide? Developmentally- and Ecologically- Informed Suicidology for the Young People in Our Lives

Upon completion of this session, the participant shall be able to:

  1. Discuss the evidence (and lack of evidence) of suicide prevention strategies at the community and school levels designed to address these rising trends in adolescent suicide.
  2. Describe how Bronfenbrenner’s ecological theory and developmental science might be applied to address youth suicide prevention.
  3. Articulate the key components of effective school-based youth suicide prevention and understand the details of a particularly innovative program called Directing Change.
