How Shadowing Credit Works:

  • Shadowing sessions are live streamed on YouTube (link below under “Socials”)
  • Session length: usually 1 hour
    • Includes a ~20 min Q&A
    • You can ask questions via the livestream chat box
  • Shadowing hours are recorded via certificates
  • Certificates are earned through passing quizzes
  • Passing score: 60% or higher
  • Quiz deadline: the following Wednesday by 11:59 PM CST after each session
  • Where are quizzes posted? Available in 2 places: in the YouTube livestream chat and on our “Virtual Shadowing” webpage (once on the page, scroll down to “Shadowing Quiz- Dr. ___” with the applicable speaker’s name filled in)
  • Certificate info:
    • Certificates are granted per session & sent to the email that you listed on the quiz
    • Certificates include: your name, total session hour(s), the speaker’s name, & the session date

You are responsible for keeping record of their total shadowing hours. Hearts for Health does not track total shadowing hours per student.

Our mentorship program (Student-Refugee Mentor Initiative (SRMI) is aimed at helping refugees, immigrants and non-native English speakers improve their English proficiency.

We are seeking students (foreign language proficiency is not required) who will co-facilitate virtual English classes for 2-3 hours each week at We Speak NYC. Volunteers can earn community service hours and recommendation letters for their contributions.
