Follow Li Chai Lab on Instagram and Twitter | Harvard Med

Sept. 16, 2022

Hello,

I am James Nuhfer, an undergraduate pre-health student at Boston University. I also work as a lab intern at a Harvard Medical School in Dr. Li Chai’s Lab.

We are excited to introduce to you, the Li Chai Lab! We are a team of doctors, medical students, pre-meds, and high school students from diverse backgrounds passionate about precision medicine for cancer.

We are contacting you about a series of opportunities we are holding for pre-med/pre-health and medical students. Our events include virtual and in-person lectures, panel discussions, and Q&As with doctors and scientists. There will be opportunities to interact with/shadow scientists and doctors at Harvard Medical School, and learn about the different career paths as well. We would love it if you could spread our contact to students interested in this!

We will be posting events on our Instagram site and Twitter. So please ask your students to follow us for updates. Some example events in the past month include a case-based workshop on the hemolytic disease of the fetus and newborn, as well as a lab diagnostics open house. Students can also apply for a long-term immersion program at the “Harvard SALL4 camp” held in the winter/summer through the Instagram link. To learn more about our team, research, and STEM outreach efforts please visit our lab website.

As physician-scientists, and aspiring physicians, who have benefited from tremendous mentorship ourselves, we also hope to advocate for women and minorities in STEM, and pay it back and forward by introducing young people from all backgrounds and walks of life to fulfilling careers in medicine and research.

We want to open a forum to the communities near and far to participate in an ongoing discourse about the hopes, excitements, challenges, and solutions to both the scientific and social aspects of personalized medicine.

All the best,
James
