Compassionate Medicine Fellowship - summer opportunity for premeds

April 3, 2025

Compassionate Medicine Fellowship

Are you interested in cultivating compassion in medicine?

In our fourth year of this fellowship, we are seeking to create a community of individuals who are or want to be concerned with reflecting on their own understanding of kindness and compassion within patient-facing settings. Each individual will bring their unique perspective as they reflect on their experiences as supplemented by various readings, prompts, and guest speakers who can address pertinent themes. By deepening our understanding of our environments, each other, and ourselves, we hope to begin a conversation about what it means to be a compassionate physician -- a conversation that we will continue to have in the institutions and communities we will be a part of throughout our lives. In the past, the CMF has hosted a critical care pulmonologist local to Princeton, an ER physician working in peak pandemic NYC, a doctor and filmmaker who practices in rural Burma, and a lecturer in the Narrative Medicine Program at Columbia University.

Requirements:
(1) Must be on the premedical track.
(2) Have already or will secure an internship within a patient-facing setting this summer (2025).
(3) Will commit to attending every 90 minute virtual session throughout the summer. Dates and times will be chosen after gauging everyone's schedules.

More Details:
- Application due on Wednesday, April 9th @ 5PM.
- This fellowship is a part of the Office of Religious Life but does not have an explicit religious affiliation and is run by a group of premedical students. Please contact Isam Mina '26 if you have any questions.
