Words of wisdom about being prehealth at Princeton: When I first decided to be premed at Princeton, I doubted whether I was a good enough student to make it. I had never thought about pursuing medicine before college and as a result, I didn’t know if I had a strong enough passion for science and medicine to become a doctor. However, as I started to take classes and seek out opportunities that showed me the sociological and humanistic aspects of medicine, I realized I had trapped myself before by thinking there was one correct way to pursue medicine. Talking to other students, HPA, and different professors showed me everyone had a unique path and connection to medicine. I found my passion in my volunteer work with children, which translated to my thesis research naturally, and eventually gave me my own drive and motivation to pursue medicine. While it is easy to doubt yourself in the midst of the many talented students at Princeton, I think it is important for premed students to find their distinct connection to medicine that is a culmination of their individual interests and passions instead of trying to fit into a mold of what they think the expected premed student at Princeton is.
