Pursuing Prehealth Interests Postgrad

HPA continues to support Princeton alumni after they have graduated.

Changing careers: We frequently advise alumni on postbac prehealth paths. Postbac programs can help you "start from scratch" if you decide on medicine after graduation or enhance your academic credentials as you continue your pursuit of medicine.
Applying to professional school: Whether you took your premedical prerequisite courses at Princeton or elsewhere, HPA is happy to provide support and access to resources on all aspects of the application cycle. We recommended contacting the office in the fall prior to the intended application to get connected.
Letters of recommendation: Alumni who meet eligibility criteria may request a committee letter of evaluation.

For alumni ineligible for or not interested in receiving a committee letter, HPA provides a letter collection service and facilitates the collection and transmission of letters of recommendation at no charge.

If you'd like to "pay it forward" as an alumni health professional, we offer many ways to do so.

Add your name to our HPA alum list: By completing this short form and noting a willingness to be contacted, we may share your contact info with undergraduates interested in your professional path or the school that you attended.

Share your journey as a Doctor is In guest speaker: Since 2008, alumni guests have joined us remotely or in person for these hour-long conversations.
Through informal talks, they share their career trajectory and advice with an intimate student audience, typically five to fifteen students.
We welcome guests from all professions--not just medicine. If you'd like to participate as a Doctor is In speaker, please contact us!

Offer shadowing or informational interview opportunities: We maintain a directory of health professionals who are willing to have students shadow them on the job. If shadowing is infeasible, you may also indicate an interest in providing informational interviews to discuss your career and offer advice. To participate, please sign up here.

Sponsor an Internship or Princeternship: The Princeton Internships in Civic Service, program provides alums with a structured way to hire or mentor summer interns. PICS is coordinated through the Pace Center for Civic Engagement.

Princeternships provides alums with a stuctured way to invite students to shadow. Princeternships are coordianted through the Center for Career Development.
